There are times we need to reduce the size of a PowerPoint file, such as when needing to send the file within email attachment size limitations. Click the link below to go to a Microsoft online page explaining options to compress pictures within a PowerPoint file; deleting cropped areas of pictures; deleting image editing data and lowering default resolution; and reducing the character set of embedded fonts.

Notes:
- Good practice is to first make a backup copy of the original presentation file in case you need to go back.
- In the article text, the "Picture Format" tab may only appear as a "Format" tab under lighter text "Picture Tools" in the main PowerPoint menu bar, usually at the top of the PowerPoint window.
- There are different selectable instructions for "Newer versions" and "Office 2013-2016."
